Madrid Airport Transfer to San Lorenzo de El Escorial

One of the most visited attractions in El Escorial is the monastery, or ‘Monastario’. It has been crowned as the eighth wonder of the world and has some wonderfully preserved renaissance architecture from the 16th and 17th centuries.

To get to San Lorenzo de El Escorial by suburban bus, you can take either 661, or 664 from the Moncloa station interchange. To reach Moncloa from the airport.
metroMetro: Nuevos Ministerios (Pink Line, L8)
metroMetro: Moncloa (Grey Line, L6)

Take metro line 8 until Nuevos Ministerios, and then change onto metro line 6; getting off at Moncloa. The 661 takes around 55 minutes and stops at 10 other stations before arriving at San Lorenzo de El Escorial. It runs around 06:00 until approximately 22:30 weekdays, with reduced hours at weekends. The price of a metro ticket to Moncloa station is 1 euro each way. The prices for bus tickets from Moncloa are currently being updated. To check with the bus company, which is called Herranz; call on Tel: (0034) 91 588 2906 or (0034) 91 588 1636.

The 664 bus also leaves from Moncloa, and makes 6 stops before reaching El Escorial. This journey is also around 55 minutes, and this service too, is operated by the company Herranz.

Travel to San Lorenzo de El Escorial By Train

The C8a train departs from Atocha, and stops also at Chamartin station before heading to El Escorial. The journey takes just over an hour and trains run on weekdays from approximately 05:47 until approximately 23:32. I recommend that you always consult the official timetable before planning your journey. A return ticket costs 10 euros.
