The Abba Hotel Madrid is an extremely stylish and relatively new building in the district of Salamanca, to the north east of the centre of Madrid. The building gleams on the inside and out, and has a very modern feel. The building is one of the tallest in the area, and the receptionist informed me that they are generally busy most of the year. All the rooms have external views. The hotel has excellent metro connections to all other parts of Madrid.

Hotel Facilities

The Abba Hotel Madrid offers car rental, laundry service, room service, parking in the hotel’s garage, cocktail bar, non-smoking floor, room service, airport shuttle service and it has a restaurant that offers a combination of Spanish and Italian cuisine.

The restaurant is called the AbbaMia and has a delicious menu including: Fresh spinach, arugula and vegetable salad dressed with pine nut and raisin vinaigrette; and Grilled sturgeon on raspberry mousse and soy and sesame sauce. For dessert, one of the options was: Mascarpone cheese ice-cream with strawberry soup.

The restaurant is also very modern and stylish, with a friendly and intimate ambiance. The hotel bar does a good selection of cocktails.

Guests from the hotel have free use of a fitness centre and indoor swimming pool that is 2 minutes walk away.

The Road Past The Abba Hotel
The Road Past The Abba Hotel

The metro is 3 minutes walk away and from there you can get to the centre of Madrid in about 15 minutes. The central bus station of Avenida de America is just 1 stop away by metro. This is one of Madrid’s main transport hubs and has bus and rail connections across the city.

The Avenida de America is a busy main road through Madrid and within 5 minutes walk of the hotel you’ll find banks, and a few small café-bars. To escape the hustle and bustle you can also head deeper into the Salamanca district by heading towards the Avenida de America metro, crossing the main road of Francisco Silvela and heading for the road of Diego de Leon. This is one of the main roads in the Salamanca district and has several restaurants. Walking, this will take about 20 minutes.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 20 minutes and cost about 20 euros (including airport supplement), depending on traffic volume, and assuming there’s no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via metroMetro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at Cartagena metro, near the Abba Hotel Madrid. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. The quickest route is given below with the stations where you need to change listed:

metroMetro: Mar de Cristal (Pink Line, L8) Then change and head for Avenida America (Brown Line, L4). Then take the line to Cartagena (Orange Line, L7).

Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it’s faster and easier to change to the metro, as it’s only 1 stop more.
