Review Asturias Hotel Madrid
The Asturias Hotel Madrid is only 200 metres from the official centre
of Madrid. This means it has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants
within walking distance. It’s in a beautiful building looking
across to other ornate buildings in the area.
The reception area contains lots of useful tourist information leaflets.
When I visited they also had an English language publication that is
very useful for finding out about local events, called ‘In Madrid’.
Hotel Facilities
The Asturias Hotel Madrid has good facilities for a 2 star hotel.
There’s a cafe, restaurant and TV lounge. You can get to the
café through a door opposite reception. It’s typically
Spanish in style and has a good selection of refreshments.
The restaurant has big open windows that let in lots of light and
serves traditional Spanish cuisine. There’s a good choice of
fish, meats and salads. It’s open for breakfast and lunch.
The hotel also offers a laundry service.
Rooms
The Asturias Hotel Madrid has 175 rooms. There are single, double
and triple rooms available. Most rooms have a small balcony and external
rooms look out onto the bustling Plaza Canalejas, which is surrounded
by elaborate buildings. The furniture is old fashioned but comfortable
and each room benefits from an en-suite bathroom, safe, TV and telephone.

If you fancy a bit of Mediterranean style refreshment, there’s
a fresh juice bar right underneath the hotel that serves an amazing
array of freshly squeezed drinks. You should also try the Pasteleria

There’s a post box directly outside the hotel and a newsstand
opposite. This is an excellent place for finding taxis and many buses
also stop right outside. The nearest metro of Sevilla is 2 minutes
walk away.
In the Plaza Canalejas, just outside the hotel, there are two café bars
with outdoor terraces. The road that passes by the hotel and the Plaza
is fairly busy, but I didn’t find it to be too noisy.
If you take the metro, the Royal Palace is 2 stops away, and the famous
Prado museum is 1 stop away in the other direction.
