The Convencion Hotel Madrid is a big smart looking building on a main road through a popular residential and commercial area. It’s in a great location because not only is it near to some of the best shops, but it’s also very near to Retiro Park and the financial district of Madrid.

The hotel has a businesslike air to it, although I noticed a balance of business and pleasure travellers. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area, and there were several tourist information leaflets available in reception.

Hotel Facilities

The Convencion Hotel Madrid offers car rental, laundry service, room service until 02:00, and it has a disco, café, restaurant and bar. The hotel has its own shopping centre. There’s no need to leave the premises! But if you do want to venture out, they also have a pre-bookable limousine service.

Business Facilities

The Convencion Hotel Madrid has 13 meeting rooms, the largest of which is 800 square meters.

The hotel also provides: computer, photocopying, fax, audio equipment, flip charts, translation services, secretaries, podiums, screens, projectors, hostesses, stenographer and blackboards. In addition they’ll cater for group or business events with anything ranging from coffees to business meals.

There’s a Business Centre with office facilities at your disposal as well.

There are 790 rooms, and each room has: en-suite bathroom, AC and CH, telephone, internet connection (in some rooms), interactive satellite TV, video games, minibar, safe, and a hairdryer and extra phone in the bathroom.

The rooms are very cosy and have homely touches like frilly curtains and colourful patterned bed-spreads.

The Street Past The Convencion Hotel Madrid

The metro is 5 minutes walk away. You’re really near to the well-known street of Goya. Here you’ll find banks, bars and cafes with terraces and lots of clothes and shoe shops. This district is known as Salamanca and is famed for its collection of exclusive boutiques.

If you continue along O’Donnell street for 10 minutes you’ll reach Retiro Park, which is a great place to go and relax either under a tree or in one of the numerous café bars.

If you are arriving by car, you’ll find the hotel easily as it is only a few minutes away from the M30 ring-road.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 20 minutes and cost about 22 euros (including airport supplement), depending on traffic volume, and assuming there’s no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via Metro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at O’Donnell metro, near the Convencion Hotel Madrid. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. The quickest route is given below with the stations where you need to change listed:

Metro: Nuevos Ministerios (Pink Line, L8) Then change and head for O’Donnell (Grey Line, Circular, L6).

Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it’s faster and easier to change to the metro.
