The Gran Hotel Canarias is an elegant hotel, situated in the heart of the area where you can find the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Reina Sofia art museums and overlooking the picturesque fountain in the centre of the Plaza Canovas.Its interior is decked out in dark woods and gold trimmings. The reception area has one desk, and a few metres away is a larger reception room with sofas. There’s a bright stained glass window next to a marble wall with pillars and a stone statue. The Gran Hotel Canarias Madrid is in an excellent location, just two minutes walk from the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. It looks over the fountain of Neptune in the centre of the roundabout. Downstairs there are two coffee bars, and next door is a restaurant. There’s a cash point machine on the next street (San Jeronimo), and a newsstand a few metres away. Across the Paseo del Prado (just outside leading up to the roundabout), there is a small souvenir market. You can get breakfast at either of the two coffee bars next to the hotel if you want to eat out. They both have outside seating in the summer too. From the hotel it is possible to walk into the centre of Madrid in ten minutes. How To Get From The Airport To The HotelVia Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 30 minutes and cost 22 to 25 euros (including airport supplement), depending on the amount of traffic and assuming there is no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).
