Review Hotel Europa Madrid

Hotel Europa Madrid
Hotel Europa Madrid

The Hotel Europa Madrid is in one of the best locations in terms of shops, bars and restaurants. It’s just a few metres from the central square of Puerta del Sol, on a pedestrianised street that is a shopaholics dream. Its entrance isn’t elaborate, but if you raise your eyes to the rest of the building from the outside, you’ll see that it is an attractive classical style building, painted in a refreshing beige colour.

Hotel Facilities

The Hotel Europa Madrid offers a laundry service, fax, arrangement of car rental and sightseeing tours, and parking. There’s lift access to all floors.

Facilities For The Disabled

There are two rooms available that have been specially adapted for disabled people. They have wider baths, hand rails and lower surface areas for easier access.

Rooms

The rooms come with en-suite bathroom and hair-dryer, radio-TV with international channels, direct dial phone, safe and room service is available. There’s also AC and CH. There are 103 rooms altogether and exterior rooms have a view over the Puerta del Sol.

The room I saw had a modern feel, and a parquet floor. The colour scheme was cream and red.

If you like shopping and eating, you’ll be happy in the Hotel Europa Madrid! Right opposite is a Ben and Jerry’s Ice-Cream Parlour, and the street outside is jam-packed full of clothes shops. Real Madrid fans will be pleased to learn that there’s an official Real Madrid shop opposite too.

There are quite a few cafes and coffee bars on the same street, and the big department store El Corte Ingles, is about 30 metres away. For cashpoints, you can walk to Puerta del Sol and take Calle Arenal, and you’ll come to a cashpoint within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel.

The metro is only 1 minute walk away, and many buses also stop in the Puerta del Sol, including the Madrid Vision Tourist bus.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 30 minutes and cost 22 to 25 euros (including airport supplement), depending on much traffic there is, and assuming there is no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via metroMetro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at Sol metro near the Hotel Europa Madrid. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. The quickest route is given below with the stations where you need to change listed:

metroMetro: Mar de Cristal (Pink Line, L8) Then change and head for Goya (Brown Line, L4) Then change and head for Sol (Red Line, L2).

Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it’s quicker to change to the metro.
