Review Hotel Intercontinental Madrid

Hotel Intercontinental Madrid
Hotel Intercontinental Madrid

The Hotel Intercontinental Madrid has an impressive entryway and a businesslike feel once you are inside. Although watch out – the revolving door is not automatic – you’ll have to push it or it won’t move out of your way! The hotel is decked out in gold and marble with lots of mirrors, which gives it a lavish feel. There are a selection of paintings and sculptures throughout the public areas of the building. You’ll find it on a leafy shaded road that runs alongside the main road of the Paseo de la Castellana, in the heart of the business district of Madrid.

The staff at the hotel speak several languages including: Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Hotel Facilities

Hotel Intercontinental Madrid has excellent facilities including: High speed internet access, an on-site laundry, 24 hour lounge, health and fitness centre, sauna, whirlpool and children can eat for free. Small pets are also allowed.

If you head out of the hotel and turn left down the side street, after 2 minutes you’ll come to the road, Miguel Angel. Along here there are a few café bars with outdoor terraces where you can get tapas.

There’s a bank opposite the hotel on the Paseo de la Castellana. This road is busy, but the hotel is set back behind the protection of the trees. Heading south down the Castellana brings you to the Paseo del Prado where you’ll find the Prado museum. This journey can be made in less than 10 minutes by taxi.

You’re also in the heart of Madrid’s business area and the Castellana is flanked all along by large companies.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 20 minutes and cost around 19.50  euros (including airport supplement), if there isn’t an excess of traffic, and assuming there is no extra baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via metroMetro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at Ruben Dario metro near the Hotel Intercontinental Madrid. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. I’ve given the quickest route below with the stations where you need to change listed:

metroMetro: Columbia (Pink Line, L8) Then change and head for Nuñez de Balboa (Purple Line, L9) after this take the line to Ruben Dario (Green Line, L5).

Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it’s quicker to change to the metro.
