The Hotel Mediodia Madrid is right in the middle of Madrid’s
3 famous art museums, the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisaza and the Reina
Sofia. It’s an impressive French-style building from the outside,
and has a basic but comfortable feel inside.

The Hotel Mediodia Madrid offers a laundry service, wake-up call and
it has its own Spanish style bar / restaurant. This is an elegant room
with white pillars to the ceiling and a pinkish colour scheme. Continental
breakfast is available.

The Hotel Mediodia Madrid is a large hotel with 173 rooms. The rooms
are simple and neat, and either have views across to Atocha station
or rooms at the rear of the hotel look out onto the picturesque square
with its terrace bars and the Reina-Sofia museum, which is an impressive
modern building.
Each room has satellite TV and telephone and is light and airy with
a cosy feel.

Next door to the Hotel Mediodia Madrid is the Reina-Sofia museum,
and within 15 minutes you can walk down the Paseo del Prado to the
Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums.

Also next door is a bank and a cash point, and right outside on the
street and in the square behind the hotel are plenty of cafes with
outdoor terraces. There’s also a post box right outside, and
a few basic grocery stores on the same street.

Across the rather busy road is Atocha station which has rail connections
to other cities in Spain. The great thing is that right outside the
hotel are several bus stops, a taxi rank and the metro is less than
1 minute walk. You won’t be stuck for transport options from
this hotel!
Turning left out of reception and left again at the corner takes you
onto Calle Atocha. If you follow this uphill for 10 minutes you’ll
be right in the centre of Madrid’s commercial shopping zone.
If you find you have too many bags to walk back, you can take the metro
from Sol to Atocha in 10 minutes.
How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel
Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 35 minutes and
cost 22 to 25 euros (including airport supplement), depending on much
traffic there is, and assuming there is no excess baggage (that all
baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).
Via Metro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport
to arrive at Atocha metro near the Hotel Mediodia Madrid. Line number
8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. the quickest
route is given below with the stations where you need to change listed:
Metro: Nuevos Ministerios (Pink
Line, L8) Then change and head for
Alonso Martinez (Dark Blue Line, L10) Then change and head for Atocha
(Light Blue Line, L1).
Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida
America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there
it’s quicker to change to the metro.
In A Nutshell
The Hotel Mediodia Madrid is great value for money as it is still
a central hotel with access to all Madrid’s central shops, bars
and restaurants on foot.
