Review Hotel Melia Castilla

Hotel Melia Castilla

Reservation Information For The Hotel Melia Castilla

When I entered the Hotel Melia Castilla I felt as though I was in a shopping centre! It is vast, and the reception area is flanked by shops, and there’s a coffee bar to the right too. The upper floor is open and green tropical plants hang down over the railings. It’s big and it’s shiny with a mirrored ceiling and hundreds of lights, and it is one of the few hotels that has an outdoor swimming pool. And it was full of business people and air hostesses.

Hotel Facilities

This hotel felt like a complete commercial centre, food hall, business centre and hotel all rolled into one. I don’t think there’s any need to leave the premises as everything you could need is here!

The facilities include hotel parking for 200 cars, outdoor pool, shopping gallery, hairdressers, laundry, dry cleaning, 24 hour room service, they have their own travel agency and provide car rental.

You won’t go hungry, there’s a breakfast buffet with over 100 different types of food; an A la Carte Restaurant called ‘La Fragata’, that offers grilled meat, fresh fish and seafood; A la Carte Restaurant ‘L'Albufera’, that has a massive variety of rice and paella dishes; and the ‘Cafeteria La Bodega’ for snacks or the menu of the day.

Thirst won’t be a problem either, as you find 3 bars: the Pool Bar; Bar L'Express and the Piano Bar El Comendador.

Business Facilities

This is an excellent hotel in terms of business facilities as there are 23 meeting rooms, and an absolutely immense convention and congress hall with seating for over 1000 people. The largest meeting room can hold 700 people.

The hotel has state-of-the-art equipment available, including: podiums, overhead projectors, video screens, computers sound systems and notice boards. They also supply a transcription service, photocopying, hi-speed internet, hostesses, bi-lingual secretaries and will cater for coffee breaks, business meals and cocktails.

Rooms

This is a huge hotel and has 916 rooms, including 100 luxury rooms and 12 suites. Each room has an interactive satellite TV, radio, minibar, AC, safe, modem, phone, fax and modem connection and ADSL internet. The luxury rooms and suites are self-contained on the Royal Executive floor and have close access to business facilities.

Hotel Location And Facilities

The Hotel Melia Castilla is on a fairly busy street near to the main road through Madrid, the Paseo de la Castellana. You can get to the city centre by metro in about 15 minutes.

In the immediate area of the hotel there’s the Real Madrid Stadium 15 minutes walk away. Opposite the hotel there’s a restaurant, bank and car hire company. The area is a mixture of business hotels and residential buildings.

The hotel is only about 20 minutes from the airport by car.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 20 minutes and cost 18 to 20 euros (including airport supplement), depending on traffic conditions and assuming there is no extra baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via metroMetro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at Cuzco metro near the Hotel Melia Castilla. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. I’ve given the quickest route below with the stations where you need to change listed:

metroMetro: Nuevos Ministerios (Pink Line, L8) or Cuzco Then change and head for Cuzco (Dark Blue Line, L10).

Via Bus: There isn’t a bus from the airport that travels directly to the area where the hotel is. It’s quicker to take the metro.
