The Hotel Villa Magna Madrid is possibly the most elite hotel in Madrid. It’s rumoured that the rich and famous often stay here, although I didn’t manage to spot anyone I recognised on my visit! The Hotel Villa Magna Madrid is a Park Hyatt hotel, and it is in the centre of Madrid’s classiest district of Salamanca, where you can find all the elite boutiques.

It sits hidden behind a mass of lush greenery and flowers which give it ample privacy, and yet it still has direct access to one of the most important through roads in Madrid – the Paseo de la Castellana. The staff were helpful to the extreme and couldn’t do enough to assist me. The ambience inside is pleasant, with people quietly chatting and the décor features chandeliers and a cream and gold colour scheme.

The hotel restaurant specialises in Mediterranean cuisine and has a garden terrace open in the summer. There’s also a Cantonese restaurant ‘Tse Yang’ headed by an esteemed chef, and the large lobby Champagne Bar that has huge picture windows looking out across the gardens.

Cuisine on the menu when I visited included Terrine of fois gras of duck with cocoa jelly (19 euros) and wild sole (29 euros).
