The Hotel Wellington Madrid is a beautiful classical building on one of the most elite streets in Madrid. The hotel is very close to Retiro park and so some of its rooms have lovely views of the greenery, and yet it is still only 10 minutes by metro into the centre of Madrid.

Inside the feel is stately and luxurious, with big chandeliers and rich red carpets. A particularly nice feature is a fresco painting on the wall of reception, to the left as you enter. There is also a selection of colourful jewellery for sale in the lobby.
