The Hotel Wellington Madrid is a beautiful classical building on one of the most elite streets in Madrid. The hotel is very close to Retiro park and so some of its rooms have lovely views of the greenery, and yet it is still only 10 minutes by metro into the centre of Madrid. Inside the feel is stately and luxurious, with big chandeliers and rich red carpets. A particularly nice feature is a fresco painting on the wall of reception, to the left as you enter. There is also a selection of colourful jewellery for sale in the lobby.
Hotel FacilitiesThe Hotel Wellington Madrid has a restaurant, café-bar, car rental, parking, a hairdressers, sauna and Jacuzzi, a lovely garden and terrace area, a limousine service, shops, swimming pool and a babysitting service. You can order a wake-up call and there’s also room service. Business FacilitiesThe Hotel Wellington Madrid has 10 meeting rooms, the largest of which is 280m2 and can hold up to 250 people. The rooms are very classical and regal in style, with tapestries hanging from the walls and chandeliers overhead. They offer hire of projectors, translation service, photocopying service, podiums, screens, hostesses, stenographer, sound system, notice boards, multi-lingual secretary and video conference equipment. They can also cater for working lunches, business meals, cocktail evening and coffee breaks. RoomsThere are 262 standard rooms, and each room has: en-suite bathroom, AC and CH, telephone, internet connection, voicemail, satellite TV, movies, radio and internal music channel, minibar, safe, and a hairdryer. The rooms have plenty of space to move about in and are carpeted and decorated in warm colours. They have a homely touch along with curtains and cushions dotted about. There are also 27 suites that are even more spacious and have added luxuries such as four-poster beds and a lounge area. Some have attractive fresco paintings directly on the walls of the room. Rooms on the top floor have balconies and view to Retiro park. Hotel Location And FacilitiesThe metro is 3 minutes walk away and from there you can get to the commercial centre of Madrid in about 10 minutes. Walking past the metro for another minute will take you to the main entrance of Retiro park.
Opposite the hotel there’s a bank, a couple of pavement cafes and a jewellery shop. The street of Velazquez is very stately and full of stunning architecture. You’ll find some of Madrid’s most exclusive shops here. The area is known as Barrio Salamanca, and it is renowned for its elite boutiques. You can either take the metro 1 stop or walk for 20 minutes and you’ll come to the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. How To Get From The Airport To The HotelVia Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 20 minutes and cost about 22 euros (including airport supplement), depending on much traffic there is, and assuming there’s no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi). Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it’s faster to change to the metro.
