Review: Paseo del Prado Hotel Madrid

Paseo del Prado Hotel Madrid

The Paseo del Prado is an elegant hotel, situated in the heart of the area where you can find the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Reina Sofia art museums and overlooking the picturesque fountain in the centre of the Plaza Canovas. Its interior is decked out in dark woods and gold trimmings.

The reception area has one desk, and a few metres away is a larger reception room with sofas.

There's a bright stained glass window next to a marble wall with pillars and a stone statue.

The hotel was refurbished in 2004 and has an avant-garde feel.

Hotel Location And Facilities

The Neptune Fountain can be seen from the hotel

The Paseo del Prado Madrid is in an excellent location, just two minutes walk from the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. It looks over the fountain of Neptune in the centre of the roundabout. Downstairs there are two coffee bars, and next door is a restaurant. There's a cash point machine on the next street (San Jeronimo), and a newsstand a few metres away. Across the Paseo del Prado (just outside leading up to the roundabout), there is a small souvenir market. You can get breakfast at either of the two coffee bars next to the hotel if you want to eat out. They both have outside seating in the summer too.

From the hotel it is possible to walk into the centre of Madrid in ten minutes.

How To Get From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 30 minutes and cost €22.00 to €25.00 (including airport supplement), depending on the amount of traffic and assuming there is no excess baggage (that all baggage fits inside the boot and interior of the taxi).

Via metroMetro: You can take various metro routes directly from the airport to arrive at Banco de España metro near the Paseo del Prado Madrid. Line number 8 leaves from inside the airport between terminals 1 and 2. I've given the quickest route below with the stations where you need to change listed:

metroMetro: Mar de Cristal (Pink Line, L8) Then change and head for Goya (Brown Line, L4) Then change and head for Banco de España (Red Line, L2).

Via Bus: You can take a red EMT public bus from the airport to Avenida America. The number bus that takes this route is the 115. From there it's quicker to change to the metro.

In A Nutshell

The Paseo del Prado Madrid is ideally situated for access to the centre of Madrid and to the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza art galleries. It has a deluxe style, and caters well to tourists and business people.
