Review Hotel Catalonia Gran Vía Madrid
Page Content

The Hotel Catalonia Gran Vía Madrid has the fortune to be situated directly opposite the famous Museo Chicote cocktail bar at the quieter end of the Gran Via road. The hotel was extended and renovated in 2000, although it still maintains its original façade from 1917. Inside it has a modern feel, complemented by some well placed paintings on the walls. As part of the hotel, there's the quaint café Pedrera, and also a jewellery shop.
Hotel Facilities
There's one room that is specially designed for disabled access. All rooms have room service available, and you can arrange for a babysitting service. The hotel offers a massage service which can be taken either in the gym area or in your room. There's also the option to arrange for a hairdresser. In the area behind reception, there's a communal computer with internet access.

There are parking facilities, which are essential if you're in Madrid with a car. Inside the hotel there's a small fitness centre where you'll find a few exercise machines, together with a small sauna and showers. Behind a screen there's a separate area with a small Jacuzzi.
In the La Pedrera restaurant, both Catalonian and international dishes are available, and next door to the restaurant is the coffee-bar, which has a lovely cosy feel.
You can smoke in the café, and there are several rooms set aside for smokers in the hotel.
Facilities For The Disabled
There is disabled access throughout the hotel in the form of ramps and lifts. However only one room is specially designed for the disabled visitor.
Business Facilities
The hotel Catalonia Gran Vía Madrid is well equipped for business guests. It has 4 meeting rooms that come with screens, projector, sound systems and a translation service and stewardesses on hand. There's wi-fi internet available throughout the entire hotel.
There's a choice of several menus for business conferences, whether you're looking for coffee to be served, or a full sit down 3 course meal.
Rooms

The rooms are modern, colourful and well equipped. There are 185 rooms and each room has a safety deposit box, air-conditioning, heating, interactive satellite TV with pay-per-view movies, Canal +, piped music, radio, telephone, mini bar, and the bathrooms are marble with a hair dryer provided. They are all well sound-proofed and virtually no noise from the road outside enters.
The Junior Suite also has a sitting area with comfy chairs, and the bath is a hydro-massage bath. Depending on where in the hotel you're located, it is possible to get a Junior Suite with its own private terrace with a fabulous view of the rooftops and its own outdoor sunken bath. There's another room that has its own Japanese style garden too.
Hotel Location And Facilities
The hotel Catalonia Gran Vía Madrid is in the central district of Madrid, within walking distance of hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants and many attractions. The metro is within a minute's walk, and the nearest metro is Gran Via.
Over the road there is a small café, a pharmacy and there are several cash points within 100 metres. It's a good location because you are on the main road of Gran Via, but at the quieter end, so you can benefit from relative peace and quiet (for saying you're in the centre of Madrid), and if you want a more hectic atmosphere, you only have to walk 5 minutes up the road.
