Review Hotel Madrid 7 Islas

Hotel Madrid 7 Islas
Hotel Madrid 7 Islas

The Hotel Madrid 7 Islas is an incredibly different hotel. 'Siete Islas' means '7 islands', and the islands to which the name refers are the Canary Islands. The entire hotel is based upon the style and culture of the Canary islands and each room is decorated in the theme of a different village from the Canaries.

The street the hotel is in isn't much to write home about in terms of appearance, although it is in a good location for access to the commercial centre. However, when you enter the hotel you enter a different world. The reception is vast, cool and stylish, and the sound of trickling water and piped music greets you. There are tropical plants (from the Canary Islands) dotted around and you feel like you've walked into an oasis.

Hotel Facilities

To the right of the entrance is the Café 'Cactus' with flat screen TV, there's also a restaurant, 'Uga' (specialising in cuisine from the Canary islands). Both are summery and decorated in modern style with Atlantic blues contrasting with stylish brickwork. There's a seating area between reception and the café. The sofas are soft. You'll sink deeper than you expect.

Other facilities include room service, left luggage office, medical assistance, daily newspapers (Spanish), laundry, buffet breakfast, public parking opposite the hotel and a shuttle service to the airport and the IFEMA trade fair centre.

Business Facilities

The Hotel Madrid 7 Islas has a function room that can hold up to 80 people. They can provide audio-visual equipment (reserve in advance), and computers. They will also provide coffee breaks, work lunches and dinners.

Rooms

Every room is different, and is tastefully decorated with pictures from the Canary islands. There's a comfortable and cosy feel. There are 80 rooms in total, including 3 suites with balconies that look out over the rooftops of Madrid. Each room has AC, CH, safe, satellite TV, phone in the bedroom and bathroom, SDN internet connection, writing desk, hair dryer, pillow selection, and the suites also have a trouser press.

The hotel is in a narrow street off Gran Via. This means you benefit from relative peace and quiet, and yet are still within walking distance of the centre of Madrid. Gran Via is the centre for theatres, and you'll find lots of world famous shows playing there. It's also full of coffee bars, sandwich shops, restaurants, tapas bars, bars, banks and shops. Just off Gran Via, and about ten minutes walk from the Hotel Madrid 7 Islas are the large department stores of FNAC and El Corte Ingles.

You are also just two minutes walk from the street of Fuencarral. This street runs through the bohemian district of Chueca. Here you'll find alternative fashions and some fashionable bars and restaurants.
